The subject of gossip and many colorful stories during her time, Mademoiselle Maupin was known as a first-rate swordswoman who often disguised herself as a man. In Chapter Four, I tie the curious epistolarity of this novel to the theme of narcissism, which is of such central importance in Mademoiselle de Maupin, and. The nooks, crannies, hooks, and tenderness in their relationship. You get this sensory experience where you feel yourself being dragged in like August. The short chapters only contribute to this fast paced feeling – and I loved it! Combined with the page details (the pictures and the pages which get darker), reading The Wicker King feels like a descent. About those lines we cross for the ones we love.
